Circular Cities Network Launch. Ljubljana is part of it.
On 6 October the Ellen MacArthur Foundation hosts the launch event of its Circular Cities Network, a global network of city leaders who are pioneering the application of circular economy approaches to address today’s urban challenges.
Pioneering paper production from invasive plants
Ljubljana, like many European cities, is faced with overgrowth of Japanese knotweed, one of the top 100 most invasive alien species in the world. Its rapid growth and strong, deep roots result in dense stands that quickly displace local vegetation and cause economic disadvantages.

The City of Ljubljana has launched a campaign against plastic bags with the slogan »I’m not lasting, but therefore less annoying. I’m a biodegradable bag.« with the aim of reducing the use of plastic bags which are very harmful to the environment.
