Ljubljana ranks as one of the smaller European capitals, but nevertheless it boasts an exceptionally rich history and tradition, a recognizable style, culture and art, and an atmosphere reminiscent of both Central Europe and the Mediterranean.
The city has preserved evidence of a five-thousand-year history, arranged in a mosaic including, among other things, the remains of the Roman city of Emona, the historical city centre with its medieval castle, Baroque façades, creations by the architect Jože Plečnik, decorative portals and uneven roofs, picturesque bridges spanning the river Ljubljanica, and the pleasant green Ljubljanica embankments - all within the distance of a nice and easy walk.
Your guide will take you on a walk around the historical city centre, where you will learn the history and stories of Ljubljana's major sights. From The Town Hall to the Plečnik's Market and the Cathedral, to the Prešernov trg square, dominated by the Franciscan Church and connected to the Triple Bridge, , cross the Cobblers' Bridge, pass the National and University Library to reach the Križanke Summer Theatre, and continue to the Kongresni trg square. Medieval, Baroque, Art Nouveau, and Plečnik's Ljubljana - who knows which one you will like best.
